Woke up on Sunday (10th
Feb) with a serious bout of bacterial infection. My whole back hurts like hell –
my body temperature revolves around two extremes. One minute I am sweating then
next I am freezing. Don’t go 4 my run cz my joints are all aching and stiff – even lifting
my leg is an exercise in itself. Check with the dock and get the relevant
prescriptions. Take my drugs and review the week ahead. Too much time
lost already.
Yeah - I got this! |
Feeling better on
Tuesday (12th Feb) – take my running gear to work. If the feeling
maintains then I definitely will be running in the evening. Don’t feel like it
but push myself to it. Leave work rather late coz of my indecision regarding my
health status – leave at 6:15pm, can’t go
through Industrial Area cz it doesn’t have street lights – don’t wanna risk an
injury by running in the dark so after Nyayo Stadium, I make a turn to City
Stadium and into Jogoo Road. Have a fast start – 5km in 22mins. Feeling real
heavy after Rikana – get to Manyanja road in exactly 71mins (15kms) but since its
dark without streetlights and with too many obstructing pedestrians, I decide
to play safe and just do a slow run combined with a walk. I wont push my time
just to have an injury thereafter cz there is always another day (80 mins in 17kms)
Thursday (14th)
– I am at it again – Same start (22mins in 5kms) – decide not to push myself
once my breathing becomes labored. Preserve myself for the Sunday 27km run –
reach home with some energy in store – no pain in me, don’t even find the need
to stretch but I do just in case (79mins in 17kms). I am planning to do a sub 2:15 in 27kms this
Sunday, let’s see how it goes. Keep running.
