Sunday 24th, March 2013 – The best day
ever. I woke up at 7:30am knowing that my calf injury wont let me do a run of
any sort. Do the usual pleasantries of icing and stretching and just admiring
my new gadget from Tomtom Nike plus…the long awaited garmin. After thoroughly
freezing my calf muscles decide to warm it up with a serious walk while testing
my gadget.
Link it to the satellite and start the walk,
quicken the pace after five minutes and then attempt an easy slow jog. Feel
good and decide to restart the time on my gadget. Take on Kangundo road and
actually jog for a whole 4miles (7kms or thereabout) and then make a turn since
my thigh muscles had now warmed up. Jog back slowly so as to avoid another injury…full run in 1 hr 20mins (14kms).
Nothing comes easy...u gotta try real, real hard! |
Monday 25th, March: Link my gadget to
the nike+ website and calibrate the distances to kilometers and also
synchronize the clock to my laptop. Feel a surge of morale since I have been out for three straight weeks and equally longed to have a garmin which has been so long in coming.
Hit the road in the evening and actually have a
good run, better than I had anticipated. My muscles are still out of place and
it really pains...thats a very good feeling, it makes me feel alive again!. The gadget gives me
statistics like, fastest km – 4:14, fastest 5km – 23:59, fastest 10km – 49.31,
calories – 1,137 total run 15.72km -1hr, 19mins. Let the games begin. Keep
running!
