Day 3: Training for 42km - Tuesday 2nd October, 2012:  Weight myself - 73kgs! that's a shocker although I am fully dressed in official clothes, shoes, phone and even with a novel but that ain't right. This is disturbing with only a few 3wks to go i gotta dump 3kgs in the next two weeks!

21km in 1:48 - I can feel my weight - The road is too crowded with all types of pedestrians - I have to keep dodging, nudging, shoving, pushing, squeezing to find my way through. The fumes from vehicles make breathing continuously uncomfortable coupled with the relentless wind blowing against me. The pain on my upper right thigh isn't making things any better but i gotta push on.

You are so lucky you are 73Kgs. I am 7Kgs ahead. I am stuck at 80Kgs. I like the title of Breaking the Stereotype but maybe you should explain what it means - what stereotype and breaking it how?
That fellow standing next to Ogutu - I forget his name - is he also running? Whats your strategy for running a 42K? You seem too busy for a 21K already. I think you should seriously consider breaking 1:35 before going onto 42K. For myself, I want to break 1:30 then I hop to 42K. By then, I will be more experienced to handle a 42K. And don't make that injury worse. Be careful with it.

I had commented earlier but it seems my post was eaten by the web.
The title Breaking the Stereotype is good but will do great with an explanation/description. Breaking what stereotype? How? That would be interesting.
Pole for the pain and crowds and vehicle fumes - just don't make the injury worse.
Try and have a look at letsrun.com to get an idea about how sub 3 hours 42K runners train. Can you make the time? If we can break 1:35 in three weeks time, we can make the transition. Right now, we need speed. Otherwise, injuries may stand in the way of those 30K plus runs because of the time we will be spending on the road. I am stuck at 80Kgs though I dont feel it so much but would love to shed off some of it.
Cheers,
